My Style Staples | Belt it.

*This post was written in Collaboration with Micolet

I am sure we all know those days when everything we put on looks boring. We already wore the same outfit approximately one million times and we feel like we desperately need a closet refresh. But before you go on a massive splurge on countless new dresses, maybe try some new accessories first. And if you want to save even more money, you should definitely check out Micolet, a second-hand clothing and accessory heaven.

Yes, a simple belt around your waist can absolutely transform your outfit. I don't just mean put a belt on with your jeans, I mean belt your dresses, coats, everything.  It not only transforms your outfit, but it also gives your oversized coat or flowy dress a much more tailored and sinched in look. It's like a new piece altogether. I currently love my Zara belts but I for sure need to invest in the skinny black Gucci belt... obsessed!

Belts can be so fun, also you can choose a super skinny black sophisticated belt, but you can also go all out and set a statement with a chunky red belt. It's all up to you and your mood.

Why & How I Am Trying To Live More In The Moment.

Being present has been a huge focus of mine over the past few months. I recently realized that I am constantly either living in the past or the future. I would either relive everything and wondering what I could have done better or I am worrying and stressing about all the possibilities of the future. Well, what is actually suffering while doing all this is the present and most importantly, the present me.

Have you ever heard of the phrase 'worrying means you suffer twice'? This really hit home for me. Everyone who knows me knows that I am someone who worries all the time. And because of that I always have a plan for all the eventualities of life. And while being prepared is a good thing, you simply cannot live your whole life anticipating the world to end next week. Okay, this might be a bit of an exaggeration but you get the picture.

So how am I actually trying to be more present?

Take action whenever you can, or let go.
Just because you should focus on the present, doesn't mean you should always completely ignore your worries. If you are worried about your finances, maybe book a consultation with an advisor. If you are worried about the strange noise that is coming from your cars motor, get it checked out. But if you are worrying about things you can't change or you can't prevent, then you need to let go and simply accept that there are things out of control. And most of the time, they won't happen and if they do, they probably won't kill you.

Declutter.
How are we supposed to enjoy and fully take in the present if our surroundings are constantly cluttered? It is important to not only declutter your possessions, like your closet or the kitchen cupboard you can barely close anymore, but also your digital and emotional life. Go through your following list on social media and declutter the list from anything and anyone that is not serving you positivity. And if you are still holding onto any kind of relationship in your life that is bringing you nothing but negativity, guilt or hurt, let go.

Smile.
Sometimes you just gotta fake it til you make it. And if that means smiling even when you don't feel like it, then so be it. The worst that can happen is, that nothing happens and you keep on worrying. But what if it helps? It won't hurt to give it a try.

Keep on dreaming.
Okay, just because I am saying we should live more in the moment, I don't want you to stop dreaming. I actually think that dreaming big helps us to be happier, to have ambition and to feel a sense of purpose in life. It's all about balance. Don't worry too much, don't dream too much. Try and find the balance and you will be alright.

Schedule screen time.
It is no secret that technology and the increasing consumption of digital media lead us to being less and less present. So think about yourself and your habits when it comes to screen time. It is probably time to rethink and reschedule. Maybe you try out the rule of not being on your phone or laptop past 8pm or maybe you won't pick up social media before noon? Whatever suits you and your lifestyle, scheduling screen-free time is always a good idea.

I say it again, yoga.
You are probably sick of hearing me talk about yoga, but I just have to say it again. Yoga has helped me massively this year in my surge of being more present. There is something about the flow of movements that makes me completely stop thinking about the past or the future. I just exist. If you haven't tried it yet, please do! However, I think that exercise, in general, is a great tool that helps you to be more present and focused.

What do you do to be more present?

The Tom Ford Lipstick Collection.

*This post was written in collaboration with Notino.de

If you have been reading my blog for some time, you probably have heard me raving about Tom Ford lipsticks before. Today I thought I would share with you my current collection. I know their price tag is pretty high, even for high-end brands, but I do feel they are worth it if you love lipsticks as much as I do. Not only is their packaging incredibly beautiful and luxurious, but their formula is also creamy, pigmented and long lasting. I also adore their color range and for a pinkish nude loving person like me, there are tons and tons of shades available.

Left to right: 13 Blush Nude, 57 Spiced Honey, 66 Paper Doll, 07 Pink Dusk, 58 All Mine, 60 Bad Lieutenant, 04 Indian Rose

The first shade I ever got was Indian Rose, a deeper pink toned nude. I still love this shade to death but I am currently more into lighter nudes.
Pink Dusk is my all-time fave and I know I will have to buy a new one whenever I run out. On my skin tone, it's the perfect pinkish nude. Not too light, not too dark and not too pink.
All Mine is the 'nudest' nude I own and it goes with every makeup look.
Paper Doll is a beautiful light pink which is a bit more 'Barbie' than the rest of my lipsticks and I love it in the spring/summer time.
Blush Nude is very similar to Pink Dusk.
Spiced Honey and Bad Lieutenant are my latest additions and I haven't had the chance to wear them out yet. Spiced Honey seems to be a mid-toned nude and Bad Lieutenant is more pink and deeper.

Have you tried and Tom Ford lipsticks yet and do you have a fave shade?

My Style Staples | The Black Bag.

Let's get back to the basics. In my new series 'My Style Staples' I want to discuss the absolute basics of my style. And today I want to start with my must-have accessory: the black handbag. I have to admit that I always automatically get drawn to black everything, not only bags but also shoes, blazer, dresses.. literally anything black is my thing. I just feel like black goes with everything and it's just so much easier to take care of. SO today I want to share with you my absolute fave black bags and my current wishlist.

If you have been reading my blog for a while you probably know that I am a huge fan of Kurt Geiger bags and shoes. So it's no surprise that my two most worn bags are KG.

The Kurt Geiger Kensington
The perfect structured bag for any occasion that requires me to look a bit more put together. I love this one with a blazer and a cute dress.

The Kurt Geiger Emma
The Emma is the perfect bag for every day. It's less structured but just as beautiful. It has loads of room for anything I could need on a daily basis. The best investment ever.

The Morning Routine That Sets You Up For Success.

Okay, the title of this post might be a bit of a stretch. I don't believe there is the perfect morning routine or the perfect formula for success. However, I do believe that there are certain things and habits anyone can implement into their lives to set up their day for success. You don't have to do all of them and I am sure there are many more things that I didn't even think of.. so maybe share them in the comments. I would love to have a conversation about this.

If you snooze, you lose.
Getting up early is not easy, at least it is not for me. One thing that has massively helped me to get up earlier is to actually disable the snooze function of my alarm. We all know the inner dialogue that goes something along the lines of '...oh another 5 minutes won't make a difference. I'll just put my hair in a ponytail today, no need for styling. You know what, I anyway wanted to have a makeup-free day. Oh, today is the day I skip breakfast and start intermitted fasting.' And it goes on and on until it's so late that you have to rush out of bed. Yes, you make it into work in time, but you are also absolutely stressed out and exhausted before the day even started. Since not having the option to hit snooze I only have one choice: actually getting up when my alarm goes off. Easy, but so effective!

First off, water.
I am someone who always tries to drink more water but I have to actively remind myself all the time. All jokes aside, if I don't try hard enough I will live on a glass of water a day. So getting in a big glass of water right when I get up, without fail, always helps. And you know what? Now I am actually thirsty every single morning. It's crazy how you can train your body and mind to adapt to your habits.

Set the tone.
What you do in the morning sets the tone for the whole day. I started practicing yoga every single day after getting up and having my water. For me, its the best way to stay focused throughout the day and feel calm and relaxed at the same time. And don't worry, your yoga session doesn't have to be 40 minutes long to be effective. Unless it's the weekend or I have a morning off, 5 to 15 minutes are enough for me.

Get an overview.
Even though I like to plan my days ahead of time, preferably on a Sunday, I like to check my calendar and to-do lists and get an overview of the day. If you are prepared, you are going to be more organized and less anxious.

Smile!
Last but not least, smile. Sometimes smiling, even when you don't feel like it, or especially if you don't feel like it, will make the biggest change to your day and your mood. Fake it til you make it!
